Starting December 10, 2024, the Personal Data Protection Superintendency (SPDP) has officially launched its new website: https://spdp.gob.ec

This portal serves as a key tool for both managing SPDP activities and facilitating access for data subjects to consultation and complaint mechanisms, in accordance with recent resolutions.

What services are currently available?

The SPDP website currently offers three services through its platform:

1. Registration of Personal Data Protection Officers: This service is currently available only for public institutions, which are required to complete the registration by December 31, 2024.
2. Filing Complaints: A channel has been established for data subjects to report potential violations regarding the handling of their data. A dedicated form is available on the portal for this purpose.
3. Reporting Data Breaches: Institutions responsible for processing personal data can now submit incidents related to data protection using an online form.

Upcoming Developments
The website announces the upcoming activation of additional features, including Database Registration and the Registration of Special Representatives for Non-Domiciled Foreign Companies. These new functionalities will simplify compliance with legal obligations through the digital platform.
